`The Doctors send them out to cough up business. It's nothing to sneeze at.

Maybe it is because some people can't afford to stay home. Either their places of employment don't give them any, or they have used them up. People do not want to go out when they are sick. They NEED to.
And remember, they might actually be going to the doctors. Doctors do not go to your house anymore, they make you drag yourself in there and wait, which makes you feel ten times sicker, and probably gets other people sick in the meantime.

Not every one gets paid to stay home sick and some people cannot afford to take the time off of work to get better.

I find that the people who are most fearful of getting sick, are the ones who get sick over and over. I think nerotic fear of illness leads to illness itself. Relax and have a good time.

When I was teaching I never could understand why parents would send their sick as hell kids to school to infect the rest of us. Then they'd gripe like crazy when their kid got sick!
