The ice in the punch was poisoned. The ice didn't have the chane to melt before the man drank the punch, and was not poisoned. Once the man left, the ice cubes melted, and everyone who drank the punch was poisoned.
my favorite high school teacher gave us riddles to keep us thinking, and then he wouldnt let us answer until the next day, for added brain activity (memory) and it worked. i also now think of many ways something can work. try it out! a riddle a day is good for you!

Poison gas came in through the air conditioning after he left, and it poisoned everyone else. The punch had nothing to do with it.

After he took a drink, he dumped poison in. He was trying to be normal because if you just stood by the punch bowl people start to think things, but if you take a drink then dump the poison in, no one will get suspicious unless you did it.
Don't poison people!!

The poison was served in the desert and because he left early, he did not eat any. Why is everyone fixated on the punch?
