You know I was debating this issue with one of my best friends, who happens to be Mexican, and he said, it would not be an issue if the majority of the illegal immigrants were from Canada or any other caucasion based country. Do you think this is true?

Get off the bandwagon. Those on the wagon are racist. I am also a light-skinned second generation US born Hispanic. Most people don't even know I'm Hispanic, but I too have seen my darker friends who are US citizens harrassed. Here is one of my writings from a blog:

Why is it that Americans continue to be blinded by this smokescreen that is immigration. That is exactly what the "right"eous argument is about. They claim that because of terrorism and drugs that we need to increase border security and toughen our immigration laws. That is simply a smokescreen to cover up the real reason; racism. This cannot be denied. Think about it, if they really are concerned about "homeland security", why don't they beef up port security. Here are some facts: every terrorist that has struck the US either flew in legally with a visa, crossed the CANADIAN border, or IS AMERICAN BORN(White, Christian). Next fact, 99% of all illegal drugs travel through "secure" checkpoints on the border, via air, or over water and into our ports. If they are serious about stopping drug smuggling, then place incorruptable security at the checkpoints we already have and secure our ports. Our "founding fathers" came over to America illegally and drove the Natives to near extinction. As for you "hispanics" who claim to be proud of your heritage, but agree with the "right"eousness, shame on you. Just because you speak the language, eat the food, and read literature written in the language, does not make you proud to be of that heritage. I think you are afraid also, afraid if they open the gates to Mexico you will no longer be useful to the right as "the smart Mexican on our side." Actions speak louder than words. As for those of you who are complaining about the jobs, I challenge any of you to go take on some of the jobs that these immigrants will do, you won't last a day. I am of mixed heritage, but I proudly proclaim my Mexican heritage above all others. The American Dream is not only for white suburbia, it is for everyone regardless of race, color, religion, culture, heritage, or sexual orientation(don't even get me started on that). Who is to determine "the ingredients" to our melting pot? No one individual, everything is with GODs will and plan, only HE can decide.

If there were millions of Canadians coming into America it would be the same identical problem, you are smart enough to know that.Don't be fooled by smoke screens from people that don't have any other argument for illegals except to play the race card.
I don't hate any one and how can any person hate an entire race for the misdeeds of some.
If Canadians were as big a threat to this country as the illegals that cross our southern border you are darn right Id be saying the same thing about them.I live in Arizona and 99% of our illegals are from Mexico.the other 1% are from other Latin countries. So its a Mexican illegal here in AZ.But ,I own a business that consists of 10 green card and 2 Mexicans that are becoming American citizens in January.I have sponsored theses men,I work with them ,I trust them.I also have 6 other people that are white and 2 others of different heritages. So its difficult for me to see your friends point.I live it every day My respect for theses men is in-measurable as is my trust. They agree
on one thing and that's the point of illegals, they are all from Chihuahua and they don't want illegals in this country either. So you see its not a race thing its the fact that its an illegal act and its a crime.don't let them play the race card with you ,because I think you know better.

Correction. All my Mexican employees are from Chihuahua ,not all the illegals the way I made it sound.
Excuse me the mind gets tired after awhile.:)

Yes, because people from canada dont have as many babies and they dont need welfare. The problem is that many are so poor they still. Thats why 27% of the people in jail are illegal immigrants. Canadans are more educated. 1/2 of babies born in the united states are paid for by medicaid. Canadians speak english so you wouldnt have to worry about ELS classes or free pre kindergarten. You wouldnt have to worry abou the money spent on translators in hospitals or translating election documents. My friend is a nurse and his job can be taken away if he dont learn spanish quick. The hospital he works for has 70% of its 5000 births each year to illegals in texas. So yes, its not about the color of their skin but their poverty which drives down wages since they will work so cheap and then we end up footing the ER visits etc.

No man.

Canadians drive just as bad as any other illegal immigrants, and they LOVE social programs and unadulterated, get it while you can, backseat action (which leads to more kids I'd imagine, right?). In all seriousness, it doesn't matter to us WHERE people are coming from, so long as they have the ability to ADD to our productivity, to our intellectual capital, to our strength as a nation in the face of economic, political and martial war, and that they can give more to the nation than they receive. (Remember "Ask not what your country can do for you..).

There is only so much room on the boat before it tips or capsizes, and it doesn't matter what color or ethnicity you are. America is for legal Americans. Pretty simple.

The problem is not about skin color! The problem is about the diseases they bring ,not being checked and bringing in AIDS and TB even Polio. Its also that anyone who will work for 5 dollars an hour is bad for the economy and IVE worked with alot of illegals. They told me outright but I watched them get Wic ,government housing,The illegals are criminals.I know one girl was arrested on a warrant and as it turned out the warrant was actaully for another woman who had stolen her ID.A crime is a crime. The hispanics are commiting crimes and when they get caught America is racist .please you are not so dense that you beleive this They hate me cause Im brown crap do you?If that was the case why arent people really hating all the jamaicans?Everybody likes Jamaicans and they are way browner than the mexicans.

After 9/11, I know people who were immediately deported to the Netherlands and Scotland because they were in the airplane manufacturing industry and lost their jobs when their work visas were pulled.
The Canadian and Mexican borders did not seem affected.
Racism is what it is, racist.
I don't feel deporting anybody who is in the country illegally or breaks the law is racism.
If it is, then we have racist laws and need to fix the laws first.

You can only believe what you believe and not what someone else tells you to believe.

No. If they were Canadian, they would still be breaking the law. The concept is simple: Come here legally. It really says something about our system if we specifically prevent Hispanics, but allow whites. The same set of standards should apply. Any and all who come here illegally, are still breaking the law.

No, I do not think it is true. This is NOT a racial issue, it is a legal issue!!!! National security and economy are factors. The reason the Canadian border is not in play here and the priority is the Mexican border is because of sheer numbers that are coming across.

Your two questions, make absolutely NO SENSE! - First - what bandwagon? What is your immigration problem, anyway. And what the **** is your friend referring to - what is the "issue"? Does he really think that if Canadians, (not all are White),were to start flooding the US boarders, that that wouldn't be a problem for the Americans? Ask your friend what do Mexicans think about El Salvadorians crossing their boarder and trying to hide in Mexico? Like the song - "its the same damn thing"!NOW" ask "your" immigration problem and tell us what it is, and forget what your friend feels, he can ask his own question... tells us the Country, remember Yahoo!Answers is worldwide!

No. If they degraded our schools and services it would be an issue, regardless of color.

If you don't believe me, turn it around. How do you think the white Canadians would react if 12 to 20 million of us snuck up there illegally to take advantage of their national medical plan?

They wouldn't care so long as the sneaking Americans were white, right?

Yeah, right.
