airbags on the toyota yaris??

my father in law just got a toyota yaris for his birthday and i heared from my sister in law that it didnt have any airbags and i wanted to know if that is true due to the fact that i want to purchase one.

If you're purchasing one in the States they must have front Air bags, it's the law, side airbags are typically still optional, but nice to have in a small vehicle. Some countries, ie Brazil, China, sell the same model car without air bags. Where does your Father-in-Law reside? (Don't know about Europe)
