Yesterday me and my girlfriend were going to meet my parents for sunday dinner so I arrived at her house and went through her closet to pick out some clothes I wanted her to wear. I picked out a nice long dress for her to wear but later after we had dinner there she decided to change into jeans and a t shirt, without asking my permission. I took her outside and told her that she knew better than to wear that around my family and to change without asking...then i told her she upset me so much i had to leave.....i'm now thinking about what the appropriate disciplinary action should be...any suggestions?

I can understand how you want your girlfriend to look a certain way while going to meet your parents but you don't own her, can't control her, or discipline her. Let me explain why, women consider this abuse and because sooner or later your parents will have to see her in some other attire than what you think they're used to. If you want disciplinary action and a suggestion than break up with her.

Lucky

You need to get a life you cannot control someone and tell them what to wear and clothes shouldn't be what your family likes about your girlfriend but how you two treat each other the appropriate action for her is dump your sorry butt and find someone that is not a control freak !!

Was this a wedding, or other formal event? Why do you have to be so dressed up around your family?

Anyway, relinquish the control man! She isn't your Dog, or even your child! And even if she was, most parents let their kids choose what they want to wear somewhere around age 5 or 6. She's a big girl, she can dress herself. If you want something to dress, buy yourself a doll.

The appropriate disciplinary action should be that she hit you up side your fat Head. She did nothing wrong, You did by choosing for her not letting her chose for herself and then telling her you had to leave because you were to upset. you are a controlling jerk. I bet she doesn't pick out your clothes and tell you to wear them.

what was you doing going through her closet in the first place, sounds like you refuse to except her for who she is & she is human. if you & your family have a problem with jeans & a tee shirt then that's just to darn bad. i suggest that you don't do any disaplinary action that could hurt her in anyway!& stop being a control freak over her because she will leave you.

Discipline? You don't have the right to discipline. If this is a cultural problem, you better educate. Don't expect one culture to mesh with another culture. You both need to talk about this and just possibly you might realize you are not meant to be together.

I am sorry your girlfriend doesn't have a backbone to stand up to your nonsense. No one should be telling her what to wear. It is obvious you need to control your surroundings. Please get some counseling on how to raise your own self-esteem so you don't have to squash and control other people.
