You have to go to dental school to earn a DDS after getting a four-year undergraduate degree. This total process will take about eight years, assuming you get right in to dental school. After that, you will do an othodontic fellowship which takes an additional 2-3 years and focus more on physics and forces since you will already have had dental training. You will need to get your four-year degree and then go to dental school. An orthodontic dentist has as much education as a DMD. Check out the government's information about salaries and prospects in that career at www.bls.gov. BLS will be able to tell you what any job will pay.

You need to get through college and then go on to dental school. If you are in a little town you should be able to make about $400 or more a day, it all depends on how good you.are. If you have you own practice you can get rich in a hurry.
