Hi.

I live in California. Have lived here all my life, as well as, my husband and 3 daughters.

We have seriously considered to move to Plano, Frisco or McKinney, Texas. (WE ARE SICK OF CALIFORNIA!) I SO want to move to Texas, however, I do not know the area well, I'm looking to talk to people that currently reside in the Dallas/Collin Cty. area and have moved there from CALIFORNIA. I desperately need advice.

THANK YOU SO MUCH,

Marlen.

Thank you all so much for the advise. I live in West Covina (Inland Empire) about 30 minutes East of Los Angeles. I'm sick of California, too many problems. Too expensive, absolutely ridiculuos mortgage we have, high taxes, traffice is ridiculous, the people coming in to CA is messing it up, SO, what am I paying for exacly, good weather.....I don't know.......it's just not worth it to me anymore,,,,,,I'm DONE!

After reading your question I felt I needed to answer your question. My family moved from Antioch (Bay Area) California to Southlake Texas, Tarrant county 8mos ago.

Some of the Pros:
Excellent school
Cheaper properties
Huge house. 2 times the house I had in Ca. (6,000 sf. on 2.5 acers)
Great neighborhood
Family values encouraged
Lots of open land well landscaped
Safer environment

Some of the Cons:
Very hot and humid (AC works just fine)
Property taxes in Southlake very high but "you get what you pay for"
Salary is not the same as California LOWER depends on your profession.

If I had to do it all over again? Definitely!!!!

I sincerely hope this helps and good luck to you

WHAT you're LEAVING CALI? well where are you leaving from?

if you live in central CAli then yes move the F*** out!! but East Bay CA (Walnut Creek, Concord, Orinda) that place is really nice to live in. Santa Barbara is nice too, San Luis Obispo is nice, even Napa and Sonoma are great! why would you leave such a great state for TEXAS?! HUMID TX? HOT TX? you should rethink!!

I live in the New York area and I was going to ask a question like your's about moving to California. I can not stand another freezing, dark, cold winter. I always wonder what it is like to live in sunny California. I am also considering New Mexico. Good luck - sorry I can't help you.

Hey, I moved to Charlotte, North CArolina, used to live in Long Beach.
Not quite as nice weather, but pretty nice, and a much better place to live
