What do you consider to be "bad" parenting?

Allowing kids to be disrespectful to adults, not taking care of kids properly, letting them eat whatever they want, never spending any time with them , being inconsistent in disclipline, abusing either physically or emotionally.

I agree with Tiffany. A bad parent is usually an absent one. Or ones that are physically there and like to pretend like they don't have kids. I live in an apartment complex where there are always like 8-10 kids playing in the parking lot (it's a really small parking lot right on a very busy street where the speed limit is 50 mph) Out of all these kids running around (one was 4 years old!) I never see one adult...

Bad parenting(s) are the ones that uses their kids as pawns against the other parent. What I mean is that when a parent doesn't put their kid's welfare first, that's bad parenting. Any child will need the influence of both mother and father. If you try to take one of those influences out of a kid's life because of your feelings, then you are not ready to be a parent.

Anytime a child is made to feel unloved, unwanted, unappreciated and worthless by any means possible (ex. not attending to their basic needs, no discipline, physical/emotional/mental abuse, not taking or teaching responsibility) by the person who is supposed to love and care for them most in the whole world. That would constitute a bad parent. Basically a parent who has no respect for their children or themselves.

For starters: Parents who allow their children to watch anything, listen to anything, or do anything without being monitored. Parents who allow their children free Internet access without monitoring. As stated, a parent who tries to be a friend and not a parent. Parents who are not involved in their kids lives, such as: Who their friends are, who their friend's parents are. Parents who don't involve themselves in school activities. Parents who don't make dinner time mandatory for all to sit at the table. Parents who let their kids stay up way past their bedtime. Parents who let their kids eat and drink anything, especially high sugar items. Parents who don't follow thru on discipline. Parents who allow their children to play violent video games. Parents who don't enforce a curfew. Parents who don't talk to their kids about sex, drugs, and the other dangers that are out there. Parents who don't spend time with their children.

I could go on and on, but I think I made my point.

Any parent who tries to be a friend rather than a parent. Basically those parents who are so afraid that their kids will get upset with them or be mad at them that they avoid conflict and confrontation and discipline.

Beating or screaming at your kid because you had a bad day
Letting them drink alchol and do drugs as long as it's at home
(if they do it at home, they'll do it at a party or friends house)
Kicking your kid out when they make mistakes (yes even getting
pregnant)

People who can not say "No" to their kids and spoil them and make them feel that they are entitled to everything. Trying to be popular with your kids and seem like a "cool parent" so you let them get away with lots of nonsense without any consequences.

Anything done that is less than your best at that very moment. You've got to go with the flow and do your best to stay on top of meeting both physical and emotional needs of your children, household, and especiall yourself.
