As a seminary student, I must stress to you that Christian pastors are rarely, if ever, educated on other religions. My personal study of the text, and history, has concluded that Islam is supposed to be a peaceful religion, and actually sees Jesus as a very powerful prophet. Muhammad actually was seeking to bring to the Arabs, what was already obtained by the cultures of the west, the monotheistic "God of Abraham." However, like many things, people can corrupt and distort original meanings and scriptures. So undoubtedly, there are Muslims that do take a radical position. However, this is not a universal perspective, and just like Christianity, there are various was of interpreting and understanding the Koran. My personal opinion is that your pastor my have been more motivated by political frustration, and lacked theological insight to the issue.

Which muslims?

AFAIK, no muslims around me believed that they were corrupted by christians. They're not christians to begin with anyway. They do however, believed that to some extent, they were controlled by their lust. That's why they spent a month vasting every year. To gain control over that lust.

Take my word on that, I live in a country where muslim is a majority.

Muslims are as different as christians. Do you follow the same thinking as catholics, mormons, 7th day adventist, or jehovas witness'. Black muslims(Nation of Islam) are very different from the muslims in Afghanistan. Islam means loosely "submission" or "peace" unto god. Your pastor may have some racial issues he has to deal with.

They don't believe they are born with a sin nature & need an atonement for it.

Thier salvation is based on the balance of their works. Yet it isn't a sure thing. Dieing for the cause of Islam / Allah is the only sure way to heaven in Islam.

Christians believe Jesus Christ the Lord, Son of God & Lamb of God & Resurrection. Muslims think that is blasphemy because "God is One". Saying Jesus Christ is the Son of God or that He died on the cross (shed blood for remission of sins) is blasphemous to them.

A lot of Muslims are turning to Christ right now, because of religious freedom in Iraq. Especially in Northern Iraq.

So Islam itself intimidates Muslims with their life if they turn from it.

I don't think it is in the Koran to destroy all Christians.

Did you know that in Iran, Christians have to wear color coded badges & so do Jews. So the Muslims know who they are. I wonder why? It is probably because Christians & Jews have to pay the extra tax while being humbled (slapped across the head). If they don't pay the tax, then they are in trouble.

no not true at all, every child in this world is born innocent that what we believe in, now regarding hating Cristian's and Jews and that we must kill them all!! you must go to your pastors and ask him why there is up to now Cristian's and Jews living unharmed in the Muslim world for 1000s of years and never were converted to islam when should have if we ever were like that.
oh and for the jwish lady here writing about us, you should know that jews lived side by side under muslim rules with out being harmed or killed and actully they were treated better under islam world than under cristian world.

oh, somebody just made that up as some kind of "theory" of theirs!

I am Muslim. Yes, we were born innocent, because Allah/God FORGAVE Adam & Eve.

There is no plot to destroy all non-Muslims or christians or anybody. There was a verse in the Quran stating to kill those they were fighting in a specific battle going on at that time. If you read the verses around it, it is VERY plain that the command was to those they were engaged in defensive war with.

However, there is consensus to destroy any enemy, the enemy being those who are trying to kill you because you are Muslim (not because you did something bad and now they are coming after you or you committed a crime and now get the death penalty.... or because of your nationality.... or for oil....or ANY other reason other than ON ACCOUNT OF YOUR RELIGION)

Muslims are to seek peaceful co-existance with those of other faiths.

"To you be your religion, and to me my religion (Islamic Monotheism)." [Quran 109:6]

We are to be peaceful to THOSE WHO DO NOT FIGHT US ON ACCOUNT OF OUR RELIGION.

"Allah does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account of religion and did not drive you out of your homes. Verily, Allah loves those who deal with equity." [Qur'an 60:8]

And, also, we FIGHT, but appropriately to the situation. Someone attacks us with words, we can attack back with words. Someone tries to shoot us, we can shoot back. etc.

"And fight in the Way of Allâh those who fight you, but TRANSGRESS NOT THE LIMITS. Truly, Allâh likes not the transgressors." [Quran 2:190]

I doubt it. I think your preacher made that up. The only thing we hear about are the extremists. The rational, peaceful muslims aren't spreading hatred, but the Christians are.

Hmm. All I can say is try searching deep and see if you truly think this preacher has the good of your congregation at heart, or if he's just stirring the pot. How sad and little of him.

NO!! how stupid.

every one is born pure and sinless and starts sinning as soon as he realizes what sin is. it's a constant struggle between good and evil.
