Tuxedo for men. Check out some men's fashion mags. The classic shawl lapel tuxedo still looks really good but there are some cool modern variations. Whatever you do DO NOT wear a long tie with a tux. Long black dress for women. Nice cocktail dress could do it too.

Are you male or female? If you're male, rent a black or white tux (not some tacky colored thing). Your cumber-bun can be whatever color you like. If you're female, wear a formal long or formal short dress (prom quality or better). Dress shoes for both. Don't stress. It sounds like fun. Enjoy.

A Nice shirt and jacket or tie. Black/white is good, but not neccessarily required. Ask others who are going, or if you are close to the hosts, ask them. Nice dress pants and dress shoes, but something you can dance in.

For females, something that goes past the knees, but not to the feet.

Something very shiny, sexy... It can be any length. A basic black dress in yoru closet can be dressed up with the proper accesories, like dressy high heels in silver, dianmonds, etc. It si referred to as the cake, and the jewelry, shoes, is the icing.

A very nice tux/suit.

Black tie doesn't necessarily mean black tie anymore, but it does mean that you need a good suit.
