I bought a Kodak Easyshare C310 from Dell for under $100 and its great. I also bought a card for it that stores over 1200 pictures for about $35 from Dell too. It is a great little camera that is very easy to use and produces excellent pictures. The software that comes with it is easy to use also which is a plus for me since I am technologically challenged.

Over the weekend, I did some research for my in-laws for DIGITAL cameras under $200, using PC Magazine (in the past, I used CNET, PC Mag, and other online sites). For them, I emphasized picture (image) quality, ease of use, and price and didn't care about video quality and manual controls. Note: More megapixels do NOT necessarily mean a better picture. Second note: need to buy an external memory card; go with Lexar and stay away from Kingston. 3rd Note: If buying online, need to be careful w/ some online sites (many create fake user accounts and self-recommend to get their rating higher). I didn't include the iffy places to buy them from (I don't know about buy.com so ... I included that). Final note: I have a Canon Powershot G2 (4MP) and it's awesome (not cheap).
Here are the cams I found that have very good picture quality:
1. HP Photosmart R817 (5.1 MP, 5X Zoom); $180 at buy.com; PROS: good image quality and sharpness, very good 5X zoom, received an Editor’s Choice; CONS: slow performance & shutter lag
2. Canon PowerShot A430 (4 MP, 3X Zoom) - $150 at Dell; PROS: very good image quality; CONS: poor video; mediocre time between taking pictures;
3. Fujifilm FinePix A500 (5.1 MP, 3X Zoom) - $140 at Sears; PROS: Very good image quality and performance, good 3X zoom; CONS: poor video quality, slow time between taking pictures, some images were a bit noisy, annoying zoom switch
4. HP Photosmart M417 (5 MP, 3X Zoom) - $130; good image quality; shutter lag, slow bootup time, slow time between taking pics;

I purchased a Fujiflim A200 at my local Walmart. It was about $175. It's a great camera, but the 2X zoom just isn't "zoomie" enough, I'd like it to be more. If this would suit what you need, it gets absolutely the greatest pictures! Good Luck.

I have a FujiFilm FinePix A345 it has 4.1 megapixels. I got mine at best buy. I paid about $150.00 including tax and everything. It even comes with a 16mb card to get you started.I have had it about 9 months. It works great. I used it at an outdoor concert that was at night and the pictures came out wonderful. I also used it on my trip to Vegas this year and the pictures came out great. You can also record little videos but I havent used that yet.

Hope this helps.

I bought a Nikon 8008 off of ebay for $100 last year. It's kind of outdated (old-fashioned 35 mm) but I love it! It's got all sorts of little gadgets!
