yes they can, elder couple died whilst on vacation in Florida a couple of years back, the hotel knew of the problem and did nothing about it..............
Also some children are very very allergic to their bites.
For my self from just one bite I will get a fairly large swelling and it becomes very itchy.

I would say yes, simply because when they bite, or sting, they release a type of toxin. And any toxin can kill if you get enough of a concentration of it, or if you have a severe allergic reaction to it. It would appear that if you got bitten enough times, or had such a reaction, then yes, fire ants could kill

fire ants are very aggressive, and if enough of them get on you and attack, they can kill you. At the very least, you will wish you were dead.

No. Two days ago, one of them bit my 2 years old sister and she just cried for an hour or two but she's alive and breathing right now!

If you are allergic to them and enough of them bite you yes they could. It would be the same as any insect if you got enough of it's venom.

Cover yourself in honey...go to where there is a fire ant colony....lay down...let them bite you and you'll see for yourself....
