What is the best book/website/source to find the different scholarships that are out there??? I would like to start my daughter in her search for scholarships NOW. She is only a college freshman, but I understand that this is the best time to start! Since sports is not her thing, her best chance is academics.

There are several sources when looking for scholarships. Your daughter's school should have information available on local community scholarship opportunities. The best way to find out the particulars is for you and your daughter to inquire through school guidance counselors.

There are also several websites that can be of help:

FastWeb www.FastWeb.com
Scholarship Search www.findtuition.com
US Dept. of Ed. www.collegeispossible.org

Other financial aid info is available at:

FAFSA www.fafsa.com
Federal Student Aid www.ifap/ed.gov
The Smart Student www.finaid.org
Guide to Financial Aid
UPromise www.upromise.com

Hope this helps and the best to you and your daughter and a bright future!

Once you find the scholarships, you need to know how to apply for them. Think about the thousands that might be applying for the same scholarship you are--how can you win?

I have an e-book that I think might help you. While in college for undergrad (now in grad school, GOD IS GOOD); I devised a simple technique for applying to college that allowed me to win countless scholarships. After graduating, I decided I would write a step-by-step manual on how to win just as I did.

From my experience, once you understand were to look--finding scholarships is easy. The hard part was learning to write winning applications.

In all your pursuits,

GO GET THEM

P.S. Do forget to ask religious leaders, family, friends-of-family, community contacts, old teachers, professors, etc. if they know of any scholarships forthcoming. The scholarships they identify usually have a low application submission rate which greatly increase your chances of winning!
