Should kids in 5th -7th grade be forced to watch strangeland as a derterence of talking to strangers, sharing personal information on the internet with strangers, and all around talking/meeting the strangers?
we all know kids now adays will take what you try to teach them by telling them in one ear and out the other. the one true lesson can be taught through seeing the actual result of what you are trying to tell them as most kids will take your advice and go "whatever". quite honestly i think this movie is a better teacher than just a movie if better it could be a documentary of an actual event, actually im not too sure if it is or not but could have been.
My mother made me watch the movie when i was a young teen and told me on how this movie showed why you shouldnt personally meet strangers from the internet since you dont know who they are.all in all it was a good and educational movie i have learned well.

as a secondary question here. in your family do any of your children ever become your "spouses" child when they are in trouble? so you dont have to be the bad guy in this situation? example "did you know YOUR child peed on the neighbors cat?" and in other cases when they are happy "isnt our child wonderful?"

yes we should make the kids watch anything that will teach them a lesson since they learn from what they see over what they are told. (actually they do show severe pictures of STD's, well when i was in school anyway and that scared the hell out of me.)

I think there are many movies kids that age need to see. The key is they are old enough to understand the subject matter and see the lesson. Whether the movie is meant as a warning or to cause them to gain empathy to a certain issues.

We all know as parents we can talk til we are blue in the face but if a celebrity or someone on TV says it,well that is a different story.

I think that they should see all of that. I would be smarter if i did. People are makeing thier kids too shelterd now. Most girls who see a woman giveing birth or babysit young babies are probably less likely to have children at a younger age unless they want to and then they already know what to expect and werent planning to get an abortion in the first place. i know that this is just my oppinion but I think that they should be give the facts and be shown what the concequences are for what they are about to do. Unless you want your kids to find out the concequesnces for themselves by either ending up dead from an internet predator or haveing a deadly STD like HIV. Your choice, educate your kids or baby them till they learn by mistake of not knowing any better because their parents werent being parents.

Sure, but with that said, should we force all teenage girls to watch an abortion video? What about making them watch a video of owmen that were abusive relationships? How abotu showing teenagers pictures of severe STD cases? Where do you draw the line?

edit; just to let you know, I do agree with you. Kids and teens should know about all the things that could happen to them.

I have not seen this movie. When my son started on the computer, I spoke of the hidden dangers to him regarding the computer and chat rooms. When the topic came up on talk shows, I would ask him to watch the show. I think knowledge is power, don't you?
