What is the fascination with having the man pay for the night out (date)?

Feminist, rich, poor, pretty, not pretty, intelligent, not intelligent, most ladies want him to pay for the date.
Why?

And what does this say about how women view men?

I disagree that most women WANT him to pay for the date. Many women will accept a free meal when it's offered (as would most men, I assume). Some people say that whoever asks, pays. I'd rather either split the tab, especially with someone I don't really know yet, or else take turns paying. It's a power thing - if I pay, I'm in control, at least of myself. Some men get annoyed if we try to split the bill. I've had men make a big deal about paying for the date, like they're proving something. Very few have agreed to split the bill without at least some protest. Best bet - work it out before the date begins.

By the way, I have the same problem with older relatives. If I go out to the movies with my aunt, or to dinner with my grandma, they always try to pay my way, even though I'm more than capable.

I think it's just tradition, like back in the day when the man opens doors for women, pays for dinner ect. Or maybe the chick is a gold digger eh.

it extremely isn't any longer continuously adult males who DO pay. a selection of of the time it extremely is split 50/50 yet women folk are quite boastful and self-obsessed so in the event that they spend time and funds looking sturdy then they could desire to get something back out of it in any different case it extremely is seen a ineffective waste of time. Us women folk are very egocentric you be attentive to. individually If I went out on a date with a guy i could pay my a million/2 as to a) no longer appear as if I grew to become up watching for to get a loose meal. i could sense stingy making a guy i did no longer quite be attentive to pay for my foodstuff. c) If a guy did pay for my meal i could sense immediately that i could owe him and that way if neither social gathering desires to work out one yet another back no longer something is envisioned. to illustrate - If the date is going incorrect and the communication is going ineffective and the male will pay for it the female out of politeness could desire to sense she had to pay for dinner for him simply by fact he did for her. If it is sensible.. purely my own techniques.

If there were a tradition that meant YOU didn't have to pay for a fun night out, wouldn't you want to keep that going?

It just says "prostitute".

Women want equal treatment, they should pay half.

But I end up paying anyway.
