I'd say go to the park and for walks but you said you can't get out of the house... unfortunately being confined to the house gets rid of quite a few things.... try these suggestions...these are a few things I started doing with my daughter when she turned 1...

read to him
(I read to her from the first day she came home at least 30 min a day) and continue to do so and she's 3 now..
puzzles
coloring
ABC's & 123's or Colors & Shapes flash cards
hide and seek
pat-a-cake
sing songs with him
dance around the living room
play the memory game but with only 6 cards (3 sets) and add cards as his ability improves
play cars, or trains or airplane
play catch with a soft ball that won't break anything
Go through the family pic album and tell him who everyone is and how he's related (this also helps when he meets a family member for the first time he'll be more comfortable and feel as if he already knows the person)
Play dough isn't too messy and they enjoy the squishiness...
Blocks are also great
tinker toys are good as well (they help with finger dexterity and hand eye coordination)
Baby Einstein Movies are good if you need a break for an hour or so...
Avoid video games....

There are lots of things that with a 22 month old you'll be doing most of it... but by explaining why and showing him how over and over again he'll get it and be able to start ‘helping’ more and more..

Hope this helps some...Good luck...

No mess! Shoot, that eliminates of a whole bunch of stuff. Make a tent with dining room chairs and blankets. Teach him about cozy, wrapping up in a warm fuzzy blanket with a great kid's movie, laugh together. Movies like Toy Story are great...cartoon animation doesn't seem to hold their attention, but movies like toy story, or seasame street can spark some interest.

I know it's hard because as an adult the last thing you want to do all day is sit on the floor and play, but that is what they need and in the overall scheme of things, it will be over so fast!!

I bought a bunch of POGS from eBay and my G'daughter who is 23 months loves to sort them from one container to the other. (I take them home when I leave just to be safe). And we play baby in a basket with a big laundry basket and a blanket. She loves to cllimb in and out of the basket, and I push it back and forth no the floor like a boat.

We have so much fun!!

Why can't you get out, and why does being with your own son bore you? The problem is NOT what to do with the little boy, it's what are YOU going to do with your life in order to have a more mature and pro-active appoach, and once YOU "get a life", the things around you --- including this helpless little boy --- will start making more sense to you.
This is why it is so frustrating to see people having children who have no clue as to what grown-up life is supposed to be all about, and that it takes education, work, and a developed sense of self --- what we call "responsible adulthood" --- to get to the level of maturity where they can take on the responsibility of a dependent human being --- a child --- in their lives.

Hide and Seek (under a blanket - like peek-a-boo)
CARS!!
Finger Paint with colored soap -- that way you just give him a bath.
Magnetic letters - you can start teaching colors for example.
Flash cards - dog, cat, etc. -- you can make your own, cut out pictures and glue onto cardstock.
Baby Einstein Movies - great for this age.
