Tell him whatever you wish. Keep the communication open. If you have explained it to him thoroughly, you may need to give him an ultimatum.
However, you need to be prepared for the worst. He could choose the dog over you and move out. Remember, dog is "man's" and even "woman's" best friend.
That diamond thing and girl's best friend was just an advertisement.

Well that's going to become a problem because guys look at their dogs as if they were their children. I think that you really should have brought up the whole dog thing right from the start then this problem would have been settled already. Your going to have to make a certain spot in the house that the dog stays inside at, you have to meet him half way since he's paying half of the bills, like maybe the dog can go outside half of the time that you'll be home or somehting like that, but that's something that you have to sit down and talk to him about, remember what I said that guys look at their dogs as their children good luck

my husband had a dog and I just hated the thought of having a dog in my house. but I ended up falling in love with a dog that I saw at a pet store and I bought my little doggie. I learned that dogs are not just pets, they are part of our family. They are very intelligent creatures that love us unconditionally and they will never betray us. I think that you need to take the time to get to know this dog so that he/she can trust you and they will give you the love that no other can.

If my bf told me it was him or the dog? I'd choose the dog. The dog gets on his nerves sometimes, but his kid gets on MY nerves sometimes. If you aren't an animal lover, you can't really understand what loving a dog means. You really should have given more thought to it before moving in.

Tell him you can't stand his dog and that he has to get rid of it or move out. It's your place and if he is trying to keep his dog out of your way then he knows you don't like the dog. So just tell him. There is no sense in you being miserable in your own house because you don't like the dog and there is no sense in him being in a relationship with someone that doesnt like his dog. Guess you will have to find out who he likes better.

Be honest with him...tell him you've tried for a year to accept the dog, but it's just not working...tell him you'd be willing to try having the dog live outside but he simply cannot live in the house anymore...
He and you both have to decide what is more important...he may have to decide between you and the dog...you are having to decide between him and having your house the way you want it...
What's more important?

Tell him to extend your house so he could put the dog there, or ask him to put it in the basement or garage. There's no way he will part with his dog and you'll look like the bad guy in the end (you'll feel bad too) if you make him to give it up. You may not like animals now, but sometimes, they grow on you. I didn't like pets too at first, but I had no choice cos my then fiance has 2 cats (i'm allergic to cats). At first, I hated them, but now, we're buddies!

You could try to:
Pretend that all of a sudden you developed a severe allergy from the dog.
Bite your arm and tell him the dog did it.
Tell him that the dog makes you want to have a family with babies. Lots and lots of babies.
Tell him to choose between his dog and your um... "kitty".
Kill the dog and put him on the side of the road and make it look like a hit and run.
Call the dog catcher and tell him you found a "stray" dog. Please take him away!
Good luck!

This is a deal breaker in any relationship.
I hate to break it to you but nothing can separte a guy from his dog. Don't even try. You'll have to figure out a way to make it work with "Rover" or else the relationship is over...
