Well - eating ice is hard on your teeth. It can make them chip.
The other thing I would worry about is if you have pica - which is a craving for ice, which is a symptom of anemia. You might want to talk to your doctor about this if you do find yourself craving ice.

Actually eating ice is a sign of low iron, thats why people probaly say it is not healthy. It is also depending on the kind, I don't see how crushed ice could hurt a tooth, but cubed could. I actually used to love to eat crushed ice as well, and then I founf out that my iron was actually low.

I used to eat it while I was pregnant! I craved it and ate it by the bucket full. My doctor said it was fine as did my dentist. Just be careful that the ice isn't too hard or you could chip a tooth.

Chewing on the ice can wear the enamel from your teeth. Other than that it isn;t harmful.

for 1 it is bad and hard on your teeth, and the nerves in your teeth...also most of the time eating ice or pagophasia (sp) is cause or due to an iron deficiancy, that is why most of the time pregnant women who are iron deficiant eat ice....

It is less harmful than many other things people consume. It has a lot of calories from sugar and also contains a relatively high level of fat. This could be bad if you are overweight. But a small amount every now and then is OK. Enjoy in moderation.
