I have two computers. One is a laptop running Windows 2000 operating system, with wireless Internet access. It is faster downloading material from the Internet. The second computer, a desktop computer, is running Windows XP home edition. I want to download program installers on my laptop in XP format, without opening them, and transfer them to my XP operating system desktop computer, using a 4 GB flash drive. Will that work? Can I download XP versions installers on my Windows 2000 machine and then transferred the program to my XP desktop and then run them?

Yes. The two systems are very compatible. As long as you don't open the installer programs in question before you transfer them, you should be just fine. Good luck.

Yes, you can do this. XP and 2000 are pretty much the same OS (XP has a nice interface and a few extra features) but 99.9% of software that works on one will work on the other no problem. Also, if you've got the actual installer downloaded then you can indeed just move it onto the other machine then run it from there to install the application in question.

As long as they are the original .exe files you can. Make sure you get the serial numbers etc.
