Migraines can be very different between different people and have different causes. I've suffered from migraines for about twenty years on and off. In my twenties it seemed that either tension or particular foods were the cause. I could get over them by going to sleep in a darkened room. These days they seem to be linked to hormones as I get then twice a month at more or less the same time. I can be in bed for up to three days and it feels like I have a little demon in my head stabbing all over the place. I'm also sick every hour for up to three days which is horrible. Nausea and vomiting is often a part of migraine because the digestive system gets messages from the brain to shut down - so everything just sits there.
In my twenties I had acupuncture and that sorted them out fairly easily. I also became aware of which foods caused the problems. I've tried acupuncture and Chinese herbs for the ones I'm getting now and although it's helped a bit the results haven't been as good as I'd hoped. So I've resorted to pharmaceuticals prescribed by my doctor. I take an anti-nausea tablet to deal with the vomiting and Imagran (or Sumitriptan) for the headache. For me it takes up to an hour to clear the pain but it does go if I take the medication early. I don't like taking these sort of drugs regularly but I felt that the quality of my life was suffering too much.
Some people get visual disturbance too - I've never had this but I've heard it can be really unpleasant.
You don't say if you suffer from migraine. If you do you have my sympathy and I hope you get them sorted out because they can make you feel not only very ill but also very miserable.

As a migraine sufferer I can tell you its not very pleasant. ts a bit like a hangover but without the good times.
First off is you get a splitting headache. Its worse than a hangover though. Then in some people you can feel sick and become dizzy. The best thing is to go to bed when you get one.
One thing the doctors advise against taking for a migraine now is either paracetamol or aspirin. These have hardly any effect and can become ;addictive;.
Some new drugs are now on the market called 'triptans; These work great for me and usually take 20 minutes to work, but can take up to an hour.
There is an older one now available over the counter without prescription but apparently its not as effective as the ones that can be prescribed by your doctor.
I hope that helps.

Not sure about that one, but I can tell you that I get really bad migraines. I have stopped eating chocolate (which I love, so it's really hard) and I cut back on my sugar. I started that they day after Christmas and I have only had one since. For about 3 months before Christmas I had one at least every other day. Try it. It can't hurt.

Hello,
This may help, give it a try. Put your feet in really hot water for about 10 mins when you feel the migraine coming on. Then take them out. But please dont burn your little feet.

lying down in a dark room and just chilling helps me
4head stuff is great too.
go and get your eyes checked because there might be another cause.
also if you get migraines it mite be due to something you have eaten
citrus fruits and cheese are common causes.
