Don't encourage a negative statement. Replace a negative statement like, "I look like a mess.". with, "I think you look beautiful when your messy."
Encourage with a positive truth to overcome a negative lie. Like, "It is in my family, this high blood pressure." can be replaced with "Thank God, He sent His Word & healed us from all our diseases.".
High blood pressure is a touph one. I commanded my blood pressure to submit to God (out loud). Later when time to take my meds, God told me to quit taking my blood pressure meds. My relationship to God has changed much since I obeyed Him in this.
So what ever the root of the stress is, change it by voicing a promise from God, or tell it (stress factor) to submit to God.
Stress is usually because of not trusting God in an area. When children are horribly rebellious, it is a real stress factor. Parent, needs to walk in patience & forgiveness toward children & get wisdom from heaven how to discipline child.
When in doubt, bind the doubt & cast it out.
If it is a curse just vision a boomerang heading your way, dipped in God's love, returned to sender.
When God is disciplining, pay attention to God & find out why you're feeling uncomfortable & then repent.
I guess I am touching on some stress factors.
The best way to help stressed out someone, is to just encourage with positive truths.

Realize that even the most talkative person, still needs some downtime. To recharge their psychic batteries so to speak.
So don't feel like you did something to them, or they are
being funny when the get in a reflective mood. Give them that downtime.

The bible says that prayer and worship to God that he can give you the peace that passes all understanding (meaning that peace will be giving to you when you don't understand it...when everything that is going crasy your at peace).
Peace with God starts with accepting Him son that has died for you.........it brings peace with him.
THanks,
for letting me anwser,
Love,
John
