and he will say "away from me you evil doers for I do not know you" I think clearly he was talking about people who thought they had a good relationship with him.

Agreed. I would go a step further to be inclusive to Christians who may think they have a good relationship with Him but do not really do the will of God.

It is interesting to me how many people think this verse has something to do with belief or being born again. Being born again is a Johannine idea, not Matthean. Also, this passage has nothing to do with belief.

Matthew's gospel is predominately about 'doing' the will of God, not simply believing in the 'right' things. The passage in question is all about social justice, about giving to those in need and visiting those who are in prison or who are sick. It appears that those who are on the goat side of the equation from the passage you quote are those who believe in Jesus but who did not go out and serve other people. The implications of this passage are often overlooked by affluent Christains and fundamentalist Christians because it is primarily about works, not about belief. Matthew's Jesus is one who promotes 'doing' the acts that are of God, not merely believing in God.

I believe He was talking about "Christians" who have become like the Scribes, Pharisees, and Saducees who try to hold everyone to the letter of the law and don't consider the Spirit of the law. People who profess to be Christians, but want to condemn others for their sins, who want to keep their "relationship" free of "evildoers," the less fortunate, or people who don't dress as amazingly "fashionworthy" of entering a "house of God." Some of them are just slaves to fashion and worship Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, Christian Dior, ect. and not God. Christ accepts people as they are and does not judge them by their clothing or lack of clothing. Churches who do not accept homeless or poor people in t-shirts and blue jeans are not truly worthy of Christ. Take a look at the people that Christ and His apostles ministered to. Most of them were poor, didn't know their "Torah," were ill, aflicted with demons, ect. Some churches say, "What would Christ do?" or "What kind of car would Christ drive?" but they pay little attention to what they are saying. Think about it. What would Christ REALLY do? He would reach out to ALL who are in need regardless of their wealth, social status, or state of sin. What kind of car would Christ drive? IF he drove a car, He would drive whatever the Father provided Him with.

The qualifying reason of why they are acceptable or not acceptable is the doing the will of the Father.

21"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.

Who is the Father? The angel Gab-rial said Jesus is the son the Most High.

Ps 83:18, Says that Jehovah is the Most High,

Therefore it is our doing of Jehovah's will that determines if our worship is acceptable.

People who have done good for others thinking of only their reward. Telling them to be filled and warm but don't help them to be either. A christian will give without thinking they have done anything. Provide warmth without the idea that they have helped. True christians give the credit to Jesus who they could not do these good works without... Jim

No, Jesus was talking about people (that are not born again - spirit). Also, those and what they did, they did for themselves and not for Him.

Jesus also said, if you love me you will follow my commandments.

It's as simple as that. Either you have a relationship (a real one) with Jesus Christ or you don't. You either do things to glorify the living God and His kingdom, or you do it to glorify yourself. The living God / Jesus knows your heart and your true motives.

Just remember, the Holy Bible warns us of false prophets and false teachers. Don't be deceived!

The world is seperated into two groups. Those who are redeemed and those who are not redeemed. How many people do you know that think that they are going to get past a Just and Holy God on the basis of their own works? That is the worst of all possible delusions.

People who think they did something for him but did it for their own prominise and wealth. all you have to do is watch the religious channels and it's a joke. Some today even write their own bibles and change things around to fit their needs or religion. Some have condoned what God says he HATES and you know what I mean. these are lawless ones that Jesus is talking about.
