Many answerers are telling you to stop using the hair straightener. I must agree that it is probably one source of your problems. If you must use heat on your hair, please don't toast it every day.
Here's a rule I try to use on my hair: If it hurts my skin, it will hurt my hair. Someone (it was a Yahoo answerer) said, "Treat your hair like old lace." I like that a lot.
So try to stop straightening. If you can, avoid blow-drying it all the time. Or, as someone pointed out, use cool air to dry it.
Don't torture your hair into being something it is not! Your hair obviously wants to curl. So? Let it curl! And if they're not perfect corkscrew curls, so what? Just make sure they are healthy. (Mine won't hold a curl for its very life -- it's so straight it hangs like a limp pair of old curtains, but it is healthy.)
How to save your mane? I'd really recommend regular trims (I know, it's hard to remember to do it, and it's sickening how much they will charge). But for just a trim, you shouldn't have to pay too awfully much. Shop around. Or if you're bold... do it yourself. I got fed up with salons long ago. Now I do most of my trims at home in my bathroom.
After you're rid of those split ends, use all the conditioner you can glop onto your hair. And besides regular conditioner, add these to your arsenal: hot-oil treatments, deep conditioning masques, and leave-in conditioners.
Some of my very favorite conditioners are REALLY REALLY CHEAP -- try Queen Helene's Hair Cholesterol. And you know what? Even though I'm a very, very white girl (you might be too, didn't say), I love to use all kinds of "ethnic" hair remedies. For some reason products made for African-American women are much more moisturizing! Give those a shot, no matter your color!
Your hair will say THANK YOU! And while it won't be perfect at first, remember that it is healing from straightening abuse. If you've straightened a long time, you might be shocked how pretty it can be on its own.
Good luck to you!

First of all...put the hair straighteners in the garbage. They are the WORST thing to put on your hair. They defy YOUR natural hair cuticle.
Instead, use an after-shampoo/conditioner product like Frizz-Ease, Fructis Smoothing Milk, ...there are many by different manufacturers.
My advice is to get some Helene Placenta Mask and use it a couple of times a week. It penetrates the hair cuticle, smooths it and leaves an incredible shine. Infusium leave-in conditioner is also an excellent product.
If your hair needs to be trimmed, the rule of thumb for very thick hair is a layer cut. It gives shape and a wonderful texture to thick hair. You don't have to go short for this kind of cut. Long hair can be layered and it looks beautiful.
Either get your hair layered and get all those brittle split ends off and then CONDITION, CONDITION, CONDITION!
Use a round bristle brush when drying your hair as it helps smooth and straighten the hair. Do this in sections on your head. Don't hold the dryer any closer than 6" from your hair or you'll be exposing your hair to intense heat.
If you have a "cool" button on your hair dryer, USE IT to lock in the style, just before your hair is completely dry. Adds shine, too!
But if your hair is completely toasted, you may have no other option than to have it cut off...short. It sounds like you've really overprocessed your hair. Straight hair is pretty, put hair that is not straight is just as luxurious when it's clean, well-conditioned and shiny.
Good luck.

I don't think you should use hair straightener all the time, cause the heat will damage your hair overtime, so even when you try to make your hair look better, it becomes worse. You should pamper your hair more, like go to Mario Tricoci, and tell them your situation. They'll know how to deal with your hair and suggest some products for you. I have frizzy hair too, so what I do is after I shampoo my hair, I put on some conditioner. On alternate days, I put on some serum on my hair. It works great, and my hair feels very soft and nice :D.
PS: If you have a bad hair day, tie it up in a bun and slip on a hair band. Works everytime ;)

It's all simply a matter of personal preference. We have short hair and guys such as it. And i prefer a person with short hair over a man with long hair because long hair tends to make guys look too girly.
