I need to find a place to take my friends from out of town to. I'm thinking $60-70 per head, any type of cuisine would be fine, the place just has to be nice. The dinner will be this weekend, so a place that needs reservation would be fine.

My husband and I eat out a lot, and our favorite place recently is Le Cercle Rouge - it's well under $60 per person, but the food is absolutely fantastic. The steaks are perfect and the frisee salad is by far the best french salad I've ever had in my entire life (and I have eaten in France a lot too). They have live jazz on Sundays after 4pm.
Brasserie 8 1/2 is also very chic. It's around your price range. I would dress up a little for this restaurant, as it is quite chic there. Cafe Centro, which is in the same restaurant group, is a little cheaper. Not as trendy but the food is always good there.

Duane Park Cafe on Duane Street. Not quite that pricey but consistanly great food and a nice room
Nobu's on Hudson Nice room Pricey sushi
Morimoto's I think it's 23 and 10th
And a not that expensive can't miss is Hell's Kitchen 679 9th Av

NYC is expensive! Good luck. We decided to have lunch at a little sandwich shop there. We knew we couldn't afford a real restaurant. We couldn't afford the sandwiches either. The cheapest they had was an american sliced cheese with mayo on white bread for $27.
