I understand the cheapest way to travel among certain cities is a bus service, possibly based in Chinatown, that carries mostly Chinese Americans. I have heard there is a NY to Boston. I know there is a NY to the CT Casinos. There may be a NY to Atlantic City. If so, it may pass close to Philadelphia and may even stop there. If not, there is probably an Atlantic City to Philadelphia bus. The gambling buses often have deals for free meals and some gambling money.

Those chinatown buses are death traps. If you don't mind a longer trip than AMTRAK you can take New Jersey transit along the same line but it goes slower and makes more stops. At some point you will have to switch to the PA train. Do a little research on the internet.

Greyhound is the least expensive (and easier to get to than the Chinatown Bus) - it costs $12 one-way between NYC and Philly.

You can take the Amtrak, but if you are looking to save money, I'd take the chinatown bus.

Really cheap and just fine. The ride is only about 2 hours anyway.

You could take a greyhound bus. I have done it myself. That or Capital Trailways, I believe it is still called. If you set it up ahead of time, you save money.

the bus is the cheapest, but you can take amtrak (train) if you like, but it will cost like 45 bucks each way for the metroliner and about double for acela (buisness class, but seperate trains)
