"On any given evening throughout this exhilarating city, there are as many as 200 stages lit up with uproarious comedy, thrilling music, sensuous dance and heartfelt drama. Performances range from star-studded Broadway musicals and plays to the most experimental performance art to be found anywhere."

If you have your heart set on seing a show inparticular.... buy the tickets in advance. For fun, go on "The Line" where you can get tickets for performances that day at 50% or so discount.

Officaly its named TKTS, Times Square Theatre Center, but its also known as 'the line', is temporarily located just outside the New York Marriott Marquis hotel on West 46th Street, between Broadway and Eighth Avenue.
Its Run by the Theater Development Fund.

It all depends of course what your preference is... I for one love musicals and would highly recommend the following:

Wicked
The Wedding Singer
Mama Mia
Jersey Boys *very hard to get tickets to*

Raunchy Comedy:
Avenue Q

Fun Facts about life:
I Love You, Your Perfect, Now Change (off Broadway)

Quirkey - Light Hearted Show:
The 25th Avenue Putnam County Spelling Bee

Best of luck & enjoy your stay!

This sight should be helpful. Please book before you arrive or they could be sold out. There is a booth in the middle of Time Square where you MAY be able to get last minute tickets, but no guarantee. Also note that some shows are not offered early in the week.
