If there's a hole straight through the earth, from the south pole to the north pole, and you jump through it what would happen? would you keep falling forever, or fall back down when you get to the middle, or is it physically impossible?

You would run into Santa and the Easter bunny hanging out in a land of chocolate.
If you don't believe me next time you pass a seemingly bottomless pit jump in.

Part of the problem is that there is a layer of molten rock between us and the solid core. It would be like drilling a hole through water. Now, Let's say you could fashion a tube so you could go right through that part, you'd be able to keep on going.
IF you wouldn't die from suffocation and
IF you wouldn't die from the extreme heat and
IF you wouldn't die from the extreme pressure
You'd fall down the hole until you'd reach terminal velocity. You would actually start slowing down as you reached the middle and be theoretically floating in the centre of the earth, never reaching the southern hemisphere.

Now all of those "IF"'s make the entire journey physically impossible.

You would get crushed by air pressure in less than a mile. Then suffocated by oxygen. Well, actually, the oxygen, or lack of it would come first. If you were a superperson and could withstand these things, you would be bead about 1 hour freefall later, when you hit the asthenosphere, and magma spilled out and burned you, again, being suffocated, but this time, it is by toxic fumes being emitted from this part of the Earth's interior.

If you were wearing a pressure and fire resistant suit, you would drown in magma.

Good?

Well, assuming you didn't burn up and it was possible to make a hole like that, you would eventually come to rest in the middle of the earth.

PS Can I have a hit of whatevery the he!! you're smokin'?

You'd burn up when you hit the core, if not before.
