We stayed at the Travelodge in Uttoxeter (4 of us in a family room). Cheap (less than £50 for the room), easy to get to and only 7 miles from Alton Towers.

Breakfast is available in the Little Chef / Burger King restaurants next door. To use the family room, though, two of you will have to share the double bed.

We took our lad and his mates up there for 3 years on the trot.
We stayed at a place called Raddle Inn, it has log cabins you sleep in (by "sleep" I of course mean lay awake all night listening to high pitched giggling)

They are dead nice, there is a kids area with bouncy things, pool and table football etc, also it's the middle of nowhere surrounded by fields.

It's about 5 mins from Alton Towers too. Have fun

www.logcabin.co.uk is their website
It's pretty cheap especially when compared to Alton Towers Hotel!

The number used to be 01889507278, but I'm not sure if it still is or not.

I've always used Smooth Hounds to find B&B's in the UK and never had a problem with any I've found. Visit http://www.smoothounds.co.uk searching for guesthouses I guess in Alton, Staffordshire.

I'm sure you'll be able to find a Holiday Inn or Travelodge near Stoke, places like that are usually perfectly good for one night.
