the term anorexia is the medical term for no appetite. It is used as a diagnostic term for people who starve themselves. Bulemia is an eating disorder where you gorge with food and then make yourself throw up. You'll lose weight either way; however, you will mess your electrolyte balances(sodium, potassium, & calcium) and this will put you at risk for acute cardiac problems since your electrolytes help regulate your cardiac functions. I would not recommend either. Your friend needs professional help before it gets out of hand and she winds up like Karen Carpenter, the famous singer of the Carpenters. She died of this eating disorder.
Get her some help soon.

She probably does not have either of these, but is most likely very sick or if she was over weight in the first place, then there possibly may be nothing wrong with her. Here are the definitions of Anorexia and Bulimia. Anorexia is a illness in which the individual believes they are over-weight even though they may be extremely under weight. They will do ANYTHING to lose even the weight they do not have. It is an obsession and a mental disorder. Bulimia is when an individual eats a huge amount of food, and vomits it up so they do not gain extra weight from that food. It works only sometimes, not always. I hope this helps you.

What difference would it make if it was your friend who was doing it? You wouldn't need to know which one is which you talk to her about it. You want to lose weight, and you want to do it the wrong way. If you don't eat, or if you eat and throw it up... you hurt your body. You'll lose weight, but it won't make you look any better. You'll lose more muscle than fat, and you'll start to look sick. If you want to lose weight, then do it the right way. If you eat right, and exercise you can lose 20 pounds in a month.
Also, don't ever step onto a scale again, unless you have to. It's just a number, and it's not important. Two people of the same height could both weigh 180 lbs, and one of them could be fat while the other is in great shape. Muscle weighs more than fat. Get a gym membership and see a nutritionist.

Anorexia ~
individual with annorexia believes they are obese or overweight and have a very poor self-image of themself. In an attempt to quickly lose weight by whatever means necessary, people with anerexia have been known to starve themselves, take laxatives in order to expell food from the body, and it many cases extreme amounts of exercise.
This disease KILLS thousands of people (mostly females) each year
Bulimia~
It is a psychological condition in which the subject engages in recurrent binge eating followed by an intentional purging. This purging is done in order to compensate for the excessive intake of the food and to prevent weight gain. Purging typically takes the form of vomiting; inappropriate use of laxatives, enemas, diuretics or other medication; excessive physical exercise, or fasting
If you are considering either of these options to loose weight the end result will be less strain on your pallbearers' backs
loose weight the right way, see your doctor, eat right & excercise and

Anorexia is when you don't eat or you eat very little and you lose tons of weight because you are malnutritioned. Bulimia is when you eat a lot and throw everything up. You sometimes lose weight with it but it can also just cause a ton of health problems.
Either way, I hope you don't want to have one of these. They are eating disorders by the way. They are not diets.

I was a psych major in college. The difference between anorexia and bulimia is the person's weight. Someone who has anorexia is underweight and someone who has bulimia is overweight. Each of these categories have purging and non-purging sub types. Both of these are treatable.
Think of Terri Schiavo. She collapsed and spent 10 years in a comma because of her eating disorder. Do you want to live like that?

Anorexia is where you starve yourself. Bulimia is where you eat but then throw up afterward. Both will make you lose weight and can cause serious health problems and even death. If your friend has one or both she needs professional help. Good luck.

With bulimia, you eat and then make yourself throw up immediately afterwards. With anorexia, you just don't eat at all, and they both make you lose a lot of weight, but in a bad way.

anorexia is where you dont eat and bulimia is when you over eat and throw up i guess both make you loose weight but it's definetly NOT a good idea to do either. it does damage to your body. the acid from your stomach takes the enamel off your teeth. if you use your finger to throw up it discolors your finger. its best to exercise. so that way you arent digustingly skinny and you stay healthy. skinny. personally, people who are nothin but bones arent all that attractive.
