Since our move to a new home, he seems to be drinking twice as much and obviously urinating twice as much too. What could be the cause?

This is a problem that may be as simple as drinking too much but then it may be something much more serious , like becoming stressed out about the move, losing touch with previous "doggie" friends. If the dogs eating habits are ok and ok in other facets of its life don't worry too much but if you are totally unhappy with the dogs behavior then a behavioral expert or a vet may be the answer. Lets hope that the stress does not have you urinating 2x as much and creating messes around the house.

Have the dog checked for diabetes. Drinking and urinating more are some of the first signs of the disease. Good Luck

If the previous owners allowed their dog to urinate in the house your dog may just be just marking his territory in the new house. Once I have house broken a dog they will go a day without messing in a house. In fact the ones I have had will not even go in our yard they go to the neighbors.

My vet said to watch for how much my dog is drinking and urinating because it can indicate a kidney problem. Good luck to your doggie!!

He's probably just marking his territory since it's a new place to him. Maybe the previous owner had a dog as well. But if its extremely excessive, maybe he has an infection.. and then you should probably take him in for a check-up.
