YES, you can leak milk without ever being pregnant. Look up "Induced Lactation" on the internet and you'll get a ton of information on it. A lot of pumping/suckling on the breasts will stimulate the glands in your breasts and that will send a signal to your brain to release milk into your milk ducts. A lot of women who adopt children will induce lactation so they can breast feed their adopted babies. It usually takes a few weeks to have a decent amount of milk.

*LOL* well there are 9 answers so far and all of them are wrong.

yes, a woman can lactate at will, look through history and even the Bible and see examples of "wet nurses".

it's not easy, takes dedication. it can be accomplished by putting a baby to breast and enduring the pain for 48 to 72 hours of intermittant demand, and then the milk will come down. there are also hormones that can be prescribed to make it more easy.

I cannot remember where exactly I heard this, but a woman does not need to be pregnant to produce milk. Women who have adopted infants have been able to produce milk although I am not sure how this happens

Absolutely yes, this is called galactorrhea and is caused by an imbalance in hormone levels. Stress, suckling, certain medications, and other causes may increase the hormone prolactin, which is responsible for the lactation (or milk production). This is actually relatively common in women and is also seen (rarely) in men.

no. Milk production doesn't start until the end of the 2nd or beginning of the 3rd trimester of pregnancy. Having liquid coming out of the breast can be a sign of infection or breast cancer.

If a woman is during child bearing years and her breasts are stimulated enough as though she were really nursing , it is physiologically possible for her breasts to secrete milk. It may not be healthy for her but, it is possible.

I've never heard of it, but if there's something coming out of the breasts it might not be milk & the woman should get checked.

yes, I seen it on CSI they can if they really desire too, and if you are adopting you can make yourself lactate I believe with the help of a pill to change the hormones. But you may want to see a doctor.
