Haven't you read the Bible- it says that you should "honour your Lord God with your body." 1Corinthians 7:20. And so the adornment of the Pope in the cross is seen as a sign of the commitment to the Lord God, and a sign of respect, just as churches are adorned with gold. The Pope is the Lord's earthly leader after all!
The car that is used is actually only used on rare occasions where massive crowds attend, such as Easter Mass for example, so that the Pope may move quickly, safely and not be mobbed by the crowd. It also allows him to shake hands and bless the crowd members easily. The age of some Popes as well is a factor- many earlier Popes travelled by horse, which would have been very impractical and dangerous for a Pope like Pope John Paul II,m whose failing health would have prevented him from doing so.
Please show a little respect- the Pope is the leader of the worlds largest faith!

Quite possible, the church has dealings in most things.
Property, taxation, extortion (no bodys going to not put into that collecting plate). Narcotics ,(what is that stuff they wave around) to name but a few things.
