Generally most mid-handicappeers should use a regular saft while light shafts tend to be used by older players and kids who need a little more 'whip' to get the ball travelling - however they do tend to bea little wayward. Stiff shafts are usually used bt better players who generate a lot of speed in their swing...'spose it depends how fast u swing it really- graffalloy, Aldila and Fujikurra are all top brands

Depends on lots of things, mostly on the speed of you swing and how you hit the ball. Most drivers have graphite shafts and are very good.Mainly hi flex shaft, med flex shaft and stiff flex shaft.
Most common is med and stiff. Why not visit a golf range and ask the Pro,they are very helpful and will give advice free of charge.Good luck.

I have been thinking about that just today - stainless steel seems to be the answer for both the shaft and the head - alloys generally break or shear.
The thing is though that PING irons seem to use a carbon fibre shaft that twists a lot - and they're supposed to be about the best - so I haven't definatively worked it all out!
I'll need to look this up again to see what you have unearthed!!!

I am a big fan of the Speeder shaft, by Fujikura. Aldila makes a few decent shafts.

All 3 are good, it depends on your swing, swing speed, and many other aspects,I would suggest you visit your local golf outlet and have your swing analysed.
