I see a lot about kids having kids on this site, and a lot of it seems to be about placating and reassuring that it will all be OK. It's not OK. Kids born to teenage mothers are more likely to grow up in single parent households, more likely to commit crimes, less likely to graduate high school and go to college. Teen parents are more likely to work lower paying jobs, have to work multiple jobs and are less likely go to college, let alone graduate. I'm not a prudish republican whacko, I just think that society should do everything it can to discourage and shun teenage parents. I'm not even against teen sex. Enjoy your youth! Bang away! Use birth control (both guys and girls) every time, no exceptions. When you've reached your life goals and have been married to the same person for three or four years, then have a kid. Having one when you're still in high school is just immature and shortsighted.

Amen!
Now let's hope some of the kids considering getting pregnant (or even those not considering getting pregnant but looking forward to having sex) are paying attention to what you said.

It's not a matter of acceptance, but it's a matter of dealing with reality. No one is advocating teens to start their own families; everyone knows what a huge mistake that is, however say a teenager goes on here, 17 and pregnant and looking for advice, you can't tell her to go to hell and suffer, because the damage has been done, but you give them advice on how to cope, and most of all HOW TO BE HONEST to their parents so that they won't be making stupid decision after stupid decision (like running away, etc.).

please not that birth control and protection arent anywhere near 100% accurate or bulletproof...

the school system does hope to encourage abstinance so this will not happen..but boys will be boys and girls will be girls. but the girls freaked out--a 15 year old and she's pregnant..she's coming for comfort..and for love and acceptance. most likely the same thing she was looking for when she had sex in the first place... and she got pregnant instead of true love and acceptance...so her search continues..and she finds knights who help her along the way..and then she finds dragons like you that beat her down and tell her that her baby is doomed to be a highschool drop out criminal that cant even do better than her

What would you tell a pregnant teenager that comes to this site for advice then? Support and reassurance is what they are looking for and I don't see any reason not to give them what little they ask of us.

Someday you might just come here for reassurance for whatever reason and you'll appreciate the same compassion and understanding.

If we all just gave the cold shoulder to those posting questions, eventually no one would post questions. Fortunately, this site is completely voluntary, if you don't like the questions you aren't required to answer them.

i totally agree with you, but when you you tell someone there stupid for getting pregnant when it's already to late that won't do any good. That's the time they need love and support.

I completely agree with you, but teens aren't going to listen to anyone. They will do what they want to do.
