If you do make it without milk, don't drain all of the water out of your macaroni and use that water. Because the starch from the pasta thickens the water and your mac and cheese won't taste too bad. Also, maybe add some extra butter and cheese...it will make it creamier.
I've had to do this before and it tasted pretty good.

That doesn't sound very good. Milk makes mac and cheese nice and creamy. If you're lactose intolerant the use the lactose intolerant "milk". I'm not sure but thats probably better than H2O!

No, you will finally end up with mac & curdled flaky cream (as that's what's going to take place to take advantage of it incredibly is been microwaved 3.5 minutes). you could although make it with purely slightly much less water and then whilst it fairly is finished upload a splash of milk (or a million/2 & a million/2, which would be greater creaminess to your dollar in view which you're including a small volume).

Yes you can. But I guarantee, it would not taste the same as if you used milk. If you started out using water and never had milk, you probably would think that was the best.

Yes. My best friend growing up was allergic to milk (not lactose intolerant, truely allergic), and I made her mac and cheese with water all the time, just slightly increase the margarine amount to make it creamier. It's barely noticeable.

Sure. Soy milk works very well, as people have noted. If you like a tangy taste, a couple of tablespoonfuls of soy or regular plain yogurt also substitute nicely for the milk.

I agree with Stacy, leave out the water and add a bit more butter. Thats usually what I do anyways. The milk makes it too runny for me.

Definitely - just use a little more butter and just a tiny bit of hot water. I think it tastes better than if you make it with milk!
