You can use Garnier Fructis Long and Strong shampoo and conditioner. That's supposed to help reduce breakage. You could also try Pantene which has a new line to help with breakage.

Hmmm! Do you really want it long if it is already 'bugging' you?
Simply though - There is NO cheap product worth using - hair will only grow strong with a good diet - and using good chemical free products (ie products with NO synthetic chemical gunge in them) that allow your hair to re-gain what should be natural strength...
To this end - actually achieving strong hair - and using 'cheap products' is a non-sequitur.
If you are eating a good diet, rich in the range of minerals and vitamins you need, you're hair will re-gain strength -
IF you cut out all the hair products you currently use that include chemicals that inherently weaken it - this will include almost all off-the-shelf shampoos (which incorporate damaging and drying detergents - if yours has Sodium Lauryl (or Laureth) Sulfate, or Ammonium Laureth Sulphate - get rid of it), also most conditioners - which just coat your hair in waxes to 'fool you' into thinking it is sleek and shiny and healthy (this is just not true - your weakened hair never gets a chance).
I recommend using ONLY 100% natural and organic shampoos and conditioners - which will let your hair get back to NORMAL! It may take a few weeks - be warned - BUT the good news is that you will be amazed at its natural strength if you try this.
If you have severely damaged your hair by treatments in the past - you may need a special hair serum with pro-vitamin B5 - again - only go for all natural organic...this will revitalize even pretty much 'terminally damaged' locks...
I can only recommend miessence brand, from experience self, family, friends and clients...really amazing results and transformation - sometimes after yaesr of frustration. Read more info and details of the ingredients...doesn't exactly fit the description 'cheap' - but in this case (unlike most other brands) you DO get what you pay for...brilliant stuff
But - bear in mind - MOST typical products today actually KEEP your hair in a state of ill-health - there is a purpose...it makes you have to keep buying more 'product'.
IF you choose yto get back to basics and grow your hair back to its natural strength by 'treating' only with natural, and beneficial products you will be absolutely amazed at what you'd been putting up with (and you will also, overall, save tons NOT buying the products that caused your problems in the first place)

GNC has a supplement called "Nourishair" that makes the hair grow faster, you can read what's in it by googling it. Be warned these pills are HUGE and you have to take 2 a day.
Also ProCaps labs sells a "hair skin and nails" formula that does the same thing, supports hair growth and health, and is smaller and easier to swallow.
If you take only Biotin alone, make sure you take at least 2.5 milligrams or 2500 micrograms [the same thing] a day because thats' a good amount to take. I use the Nourshair supplement from GNC now and my hair is growing faster than it did, but it took about 6 to 8 weeks of daily use to see results.

Main & Tail Shampoo @ WalMart. Sounds crazy but it works. It has a horse on the front of the bottle, use the shampoo and conditioner.
