Sugar Ray Robinson. The man Ali called his mentor and who he admitted was the man he copied much of his technique from. Never lost an amateur fight and was No. 1 for 5 years pound for pound and boxed in the golden era of boxing in fadct ushered it in. Out of over 200 fights was never stopped by an opponent onlt the weather V Joey Maxim. He held a belt at 4 weights half the divisions at the time accorded status as the greatest boxer to ever live by a panel of experts one being Bert Sugar. Also the ring magazine's editors on that panel. The ring magazine voted him the best ever and awarded him such a title.
