My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.
On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.
The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!
Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.
Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.
Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

Here is what I'm doing, and it's working. Eat healthy(duh), cut out soda, don't eat high in fat sweets(if you do eat sweets, just one serving a day), eat Lean Cusine, Healthy Choice, or Smart Ones frozen meals if you don't have time to cook up low calorie lunches, and don't eat too much starch or fried foods. Eat tons of brocoli. It help you burn calories. Don't eat past 6:30 at night.
For exercise, do something that is like running, trampoline, jump rope, hula hoop, try some kind of dancing (belly dance for me) and make sure the exercise you do amounts to at least 30 minutes but it's best for 50 mins to an hour.
Diets really aren't good, you have to have a healthy lifestyle change. When you diet and go off of it, you could easily gain all the weight back plus more.
My way is going good. I've lost 20 pounds and 4 inches around my waist.

food pyramid. follow it. you should reach you goal of 140 in no time flat.
stay active, drink hydrating fluids.. walk walk walk.. take the stairs.
and follow this guide. http://www.mypyramid.gov/
a well balanced diet will help big time!
don't rid yourself of the things you love that makes things worse.
activity is the goal and increasing fiber, minerals and vitamins.
a happy body is a healthy body.
oh yes stay away from jenny craig, any program like that. (it's not life term) stay away from low calorie low fat prepackaged goods (mineral counts and vitamins are of low levels you'll be starving your body)
key IS... : fresh fruits and vegetables.
:D
stay away from pills and fad diets that promise results you'll end up starving your body and gaining even more weight.
