i have a '71 jeep cj5 with 225 cuin v6, a points type prestolite distributor. how do you put in an hei dist. from an oddfire 231 cuin v6? would like to see pictures too.

same as any...get it up on #1 cylinder and drop the distributor in with the rotor pointing at #1 Then just run the hot wire which normally goes to the coil to the distributor. You will have to cut the wire and put an end on it to conect to the distributor...pretty easy really.

wow i have a 71 jeepster commando v6 225 i didnt know they put that in any thing else
i did it to mine it was simple first find the distributor they had them in some late 70s buicks now remove both caps before you pull the one out of the jeep make a mark on the engine where the rotor is pointing now pull it and put in the new one with the rotor pointing the same make note of when the points open of its on the short or long as you need to match that also put the cap on hook up thi 1 power wire install new wires [use old ones as a map ] isnt the firing order on that one 165432 or something like that its been a while
and your done oh ya set the timing between 5 and 10 depending on altitude the higher you are the more advanced
i have sience swaped mine out to a v6 252 they came in a buick 81 to 83 and put on the 4 barel carb and its even fire now
