anyone see their kids homework for 6-8 grade and see that there is a report, research paper due like in a day or two with graphs, table of contents, works cited page and so on..why don't they teach the kids in school how to do this.. iam upset because if i didn't obtain my bachelors degree last year, my kids and I would be lost. any other parents have this problem.

Our two oldest kids are in a charter school and they're slammed like this too. I do believe that too many teachers think the last teacher prepared these kids for their class and they're sadly mistaken. I really wish they would communicate with the other teachers from the grades below them for a more continuous, obtainable goal.

I really feel for the kids who are on their own, either due to working parents or no guidance whatsoever!

If this is a 2 day project, it is unrealistic and not very beneficial.

This should be a 2 week project, and judged HEAVILY in favor of those whose work ethic allowed for in depth research.

However, it requires a "ramping of skills" to get to this level and few teachers have the motivation to accomplish this. If we were allowed to pay good teachers at a much higher rate, we could improve motivation.

Teachers unions don't like this idea however, so it will never come about.

I don't know... but I am assuming they usually give them longer than a couple days to do it...

If not, that is totally ridiculous.
