my best mate of 7 years and my ex of 3 years were just getting into a really cool hanging out relationship. Then i had suspisions that they were seeing each other behind my back. I asked her out right and she denied it, but i knew she was lieing. Then i left it a couple of weeks and went and saw my mate and asked him, the look on his face said it all, rumbled!!! My mate was always telling me that she was using me and had me wrapped round her little finger and that he hated her, and he knew that i still had feelings for her, but i knew nothing else would ever some of it. He broke the ultimate mate rule, never date your mates ex's of your sister!!! i cant believe he did this and i dont know what to do about the both of them, im so confused.............HELP!!!!!!!

This rule of staying away from your mate's ex or sister is a really childish misogynistic rule invented by possessive male chauvinists. Are you a possessive male chauvinist? They were sneaking around because they knew you would get upset and that's it.

Your ex is your ex. Unless you had plans to get back with her (which I think you did) who she goes out with after you is none of your business.

She was obviously not meant to be with you so let your friend have a chance. If it all works out and you stay civil, you could end up being best man instead of a bitter ex friend. If it doesn't work out then you will be the first shoulder for your friend to cry on as long as you're not the first to rub his nose in it.

I know it hurts right now, but you are better off without people like that.......Iif she was capable of doing this to you, she will do it to him. As for your mate...... well frienship is about trust and he's not a mate you can trust. He broke the rule big time and things would never be the same anyway.

I am confused !!too. did you say your ex? if that is the case you have given her the freedom to date whom she pleases. The fact that it happened to be your best mate it just bad luck. I would resume the friendship with both of them and find yourself a good soul mate. It is much nicer not to bare grudges. It will just take a bit of courage on your part to resume the friendships. Good luck!!!!

The ultimate mate rule is don't date your pals girlfriend. As far as I am concerned, ex-girlfriends are fair game.

She's your EX...!!! EX......as in "used to be", "not anymore", broke up long ago... What do you care??? She's been your EX for 3 years... I think he waited a respectable amount of time for you to patch it up with her. You haven't done that...so back off!! It's none of your business now.

She is your ex remember.
All the same he should have told you. A mate would have if he really had to date her.
