Expanding on the GPS suggestion. It has many uses for the outdoorsman. Consider giving a years premium membership to Geocaching.com. If your outdoorsman is unfamiliar with geocaching it will be a new and exciting way to enjoy the outdoors. It is an activity where people go out into the wilderness or even right in town and hide a container with neat goodies to find and a log book for searchers to log their find. It is like a high tech treasure hunt. I have been geocaching for a few years now and have logged 152 finds and placed 5 caches of my own. Your outdoorsman can come hunt for mine if he is brave enough to dodge the enemy fire in Afghanistan!

How about a 30 year old woman to do the outdoor stuff with?

Oh ; )

Depends on the $$ and what kind of outdoor activites he likes. A camping trip to a beautiful local, or prehaps a hunting or fishing trip.

Hard to say at that age they usually have all the things they want LOL. When my father turned 60 I bought him a Ruger P90 .45 ACP. He was pleased.

Honestly though I would get them a gift card for a sportman shop so they could go get what they want. When they get older they kinda clam up on what they want and never seem to tell.

Beer and a woman! LOL, actually I think a multi-tool would be nice if he doesn't already have one. Luminox (Swiss Army) makes some really nice stuff, high tech too, if he uses a computer or mp3 player.

Pick up a homeless guy and take them to the woods then hunt him like in that movie. Although, that didin't turn out too well from what I remember. Just get him an orange cap with earflaps.
