To get my hair back closer to my natural lighter color (from a dark brown), I used lighter dye a couple months in a row. It probably won't make the whole leap two shades lighter in one dye job.

You could go to a pro and they could do it for you.

A lighter shade would definitely improve the results. I have the same problem with my hair. I tried using the lightest shade of the color I wanted it, and results showed up much better. You may also want to leave it in a bit longer than you usually do to get a better color stay. If using a lighter shade still does not help, you may want to try bleaching the hair first and then dying. This way involves twice as much work, but has proven to work very successfully. If you've just dyed your hair, wait at least 30 days before trying another treatment as too much work on your hair in a short period of time may damage it severely. To prevent the color from fading, get some after coloring conditioner. Usually there is a tube included in the box of dye products. Hope all goes well with the hair coloring. =)

Yes, it should lighten a little but you really need a stronger developer. You could try using the lightest shade of brown and it should turn out medium.

i would recommend just putting in some highlights this will lighten up the overall appearance. the only way to lighten permanent hair color is to bleach it or strip the color
