I know that when you double-click on a row, excel will auto-fit row height to the content/amount of text in the largest cell in that row. How can I do this on multiple rows, or better yet, to always be "just right" in the whole document? I have a large document with text inside the cells and lots of empty "space" in cells that I want to get rid of. The "space" is not the result of hard retuns, spaces, or tabs. I also have rows that are too short for the text that's in them. All cells are "wrap text". Help? Thanks!

Try selecting the rows you want to adjust and choose Format - Row Height - Autofit. Should work.

It's even easier than you think. If you are adjusting all rows, simply click the box in the upper left corner (above 1, and left of A), which higlights everything. Then grab the line that separates one row from the next, adjust to the desired height, and leave go of the mouse. Done! Similarly, you can do the same thing with only the rows you select. As you click a row, hold down the ctrl key to select multiple individual rows.
You can also click the upper left block to highlight all again, then go format - row - autofit.

in addition to this you can select only the rows you want to adjust and right click. Then click on row height and type in desired height.
