Latest estimates put it at 300 to 400 thousand in Iraq. Of course, that does not include the hundreds of thousands killed by the 8 year war with Iran (in which he used chemical weapons) and the Gulf War.
Further, all estimates of civilian casualties in the current war will be skewed by the fact that the terrorist don't wear uniforms. Therefore, we can kill 100 terrorists, and there is nothing to stop someone from saying they were civilians because they weren't in uniforms. So how can any estimate be accurate?
And to answer your question about liberation, let me add this.
With Saddam: 300,000 dead, and 25,000,000 enslaved.
Without Saddam maybe 40,000 dead, and 25,000,000 FREE.
Yes, we can call ourselves liberators.

I think the thing that you forget, is that most of those civilians that have died in the war were used as cover and hiding for the insurgents. So yes, the US was and will remain liberators for Iraq.
EDIT: Actually, Rabbitacular, I know it's the truth. See, I'm married to a soldier that has been to war 3 times. I don't have to believe propaganda. I have the facts. On my own time, I also do research in many areas and try to get views on both sides of the story. Can you say you've ever done the same?? I'm sure not, it's too easy to sit behind a puter and draw conclusions on someone you don't know, isn't it?? Did you even bother to answer the question?? No, you didn't....glad I got your attention though.

The whole thing about that is that the insurgents(Iraqi terrorists) are killing more of their own people than American soldiers. They are Saddam's followers trying to carry on his government. Remember Saddam used chemical weapons on civilians.

Thats excatly what i've been saying--------we need to get our **** home and start taking care of things here------There are almost 50 million working people here that dont have medical insurance--------its time for our countru ( U S A )to quit trying to cram our ideals down everyone throat if we do a good job at home others will want to follow our pattern thats my opinon---We can elimnate the need for oil but theres too much money involved--- We have already wasted more money in this war than it would take to develop our energy sources ------i sympathize with our military---and i support them in their efforts-----but they are not the ones calling the shots but should be---a bunch of greedy draft dodgers are calling the shots-------i guess i'll be arrested for saying this------BUT I"M AN AMERICAN ANYWAY---

Check the mass graves - hundreds of thousands.
Are the US troops killing civilians? Or the terrorists?
How many civilians died after D-Day in France? Should we have not invaded there either?
Your logic is faulty. As are your facts.

Those numbers are not conclusive as they are still uncovering mass graves. Yes we are liberators. We cannot help the insurgents that are killing all the innocent people and the insurgents will only get worse if we leave.
