don't know of any statistics, but anyone who leases a car is an idiot. if you have that much money to throw away, please give it to charity or something.

If you have a business and can use the write off leasing is good.
If you just want to out do the neighbors no. Its better to buy, but with cars at a all time high in price be careful. Jobs going to Mexico everyday.
