I have been to the doc earlier this summer & he did not know what it was. Now it's flared up worse, and he cannot get me in again for 3 weeks. My hands are red, puffy, and starting to itch. The skin around the nail beds is red & swollen. The rash on my chest and arms was growing new skin, but now has turned red again. It is warm to the touch. I am not expecting a diagnosis, but just wondered if anyone has ever seen anything like this?

The rash on the arms has been on and off all summer, since memorial wkd and started from a sunburn. One spot on my finger started back in Feb, but was never itchy or puffy. The skin around the nails began about 3 wks ago after I had fake nails for my wedding. The itching is new today.

It kinda looks like a form of Lupus... If your doctor doesn't have an answer you need to get more opinions from different doctors...
check out this web site....http://dermis.multimedica.de/dermisroot/en/30834/diagnose.htm

Are you on any medications? My grandmother was on one--and I can't remember the name of it, I'm so sorry, but it had Niacin in it--that made her break out into a rash. It wasn't as severe as yours, but she did get a rash on her arms that was itchy, red, swollen, and hot to the touch, so there are some similarities there. The first doctor she went to told her it couldn't be any of her medications, but she went into another doc for a second opinion, and he told her that the medication is what was causing it and fixed her right up. So maybe you should get a second opinion from another doctor?
Whatever the case may be, good luck.

8^P That's awful!
It looks just like the impetigo that I had a few weeks ago but it was no where as severe as your case is. Mine started out looking like pimples but then they got all red & itchy and then formed yellow bumps that had fluid in them. They were VERY itchy!
On Wikipedia, it says that impetigo is usually allowed entrance to the skin by
trauma, such as sunburn, insect bites, cuts or other things that can damage the skin.
These do not actually cause impetigo, they just allow it into your skin.

Firstly, you must go to see your Doctor as soon as possible.
The rash looks very painful and you need a referral to a dermatologist. You should have skin scrapings/ swabs taken. It may be fungal in origin.
I assume you have tried things like anti-histamines (although the rash doesn't look particularly allergic in nature)
Good Luck.

It may be psoraisis, I have psoraisis and sunburn seems to trigger it. It may also be related to lupus. You really need to see a dermatologist. See if your Doc can do some blood work to check for lupus. Good Luck!!! Get Well!!!!!
