You can't really describe WHAT an orgasm is... It's true, it's all in your mind... but you can describe what HAPPENS during orgasms for men and women
For women, the vaginal wall and uterus contract rapidly during an orgasm... evolutionary speaking, this is because it would basically 'pull up' the sperm to meet the egg... so if a couple were to acheive orgasms, the likelyhood of the sperm reaching the egg is more likely
For men, it's very similar. Ejactulation does not always mean orgasm for men, but it is a very common happening that coincides with it. The tightening and squeezing of the muscles around their urethra and vans deferens is what happens when men orgasm.
