I agree. I was taught to believe in God before I had any religious training. I never could get into the Jesus story. My God ... would have thought of a much better way.

Jesus is God's Word made flesh. The reason that He came to the earth was to become the ultimate sacrifice for us. Because He never sinned, He was worthy to be this sacrifice. We, on the other hand, are born in a sinful state because of Adam and Eve's disobedience to God. We can't do anything to earn forgiveness from God.

God can't allow sin into Heaven. God made this plan for His Son, Jesus to come here, suffer, bleed, and die in our place for our sin to show us how much He loves us.

It is not crazy because, in doing this, Jesus saved those who will accept Him as their Lord and Savior.

The wonderful news is that Jesus is alive and is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He was raised from death by God's Holy Spirit and we can be too through belief and acceptance of Jesus.

being a hater I don't think you can understand but I will try.. God is perfect in all ways.. The two that are important here are justice and mercy. His perfect justice demands blood for the violation of His holy Laws. His perfect mercy wants none to die but all mankind come to Him. Jesus can into the world and because He is God He was able to offer an eternal sacrifice for sin. God's justice sees the Blood on those of us who are willing to except it and His judgment passes over us. Just as the prophesy of the passover foretold. When the Angel of Death passed over Israel when he saw the Blood on the door posts.... Jim

BTW its passages like this that give my heart the evidence I need
to be a christian.

If you understand Jesus at all, this is a win win situation. Jesus was doing the will of God the Father when he died for the sins of the world. We win, because He redeemed us, Jesus wins because He obeyed and fulfilled the Father's command, The Father wins, because the human family He created is now reconciled toi Him and Jesus.

Because He would rather die than go to heaven without you. It can't be a win-win situation because the wages of sin are death, someone had to die for your sins. It's not crazy, it's called Mercy and Grace.
Mercy is escaping what you deserve, but Grace is getting something you could never deserve.

People quote scriptures to answer this, what does that do??

I know what you mean, why does some guy dying for another guys sins in some garden affect me? I have had it explained too, mostly John 3:16, but that doesn't do it for me.

I think if there is a supreme being, he could come up with a better plan. Hell, I could come up with a better plan

When man sinned he fell short of God's standard. Because of this, we needed to be reconciled to God. We needed to be brought back to him. Christ was that reconciliation. He was the only one who could possibly save us from the result of our sin (death). Why? Because a perfect sacrifice was required. The only one who is perfect is God. So God the Son came down, became a man, died, and was resurrected for us that we might have a new life that is everlasting.

If there was a dog out in the street covered in crap from head to tale would you let that dog into your house without hosing it down?? Of course not!!
Well we are that dog, the crap on him is our sin and the hosing down is the blood of Jesus cleaning us from all crap (sin) to allow us to enter into the presence of the Father.

No matter how hard or how much you love that dog while he is filthy he is not stepping into a nice clean house.
