You may not be able to just soak them, although even soaking them in water can soften them enough to let you "sandpaper" or pummace them so they're a little less obvious and/or painful.

You could throw some baby oil or moisturing body wash into the water. It may help soften the callous a little more than just water. If you can apply moisturizer to the callous without making your feet slip out of your shoes that may help too. If you'll wear socks, putting them on after using moisturizer may also improve the softness of the callous.

The best way (I think) to get rid of a callous is to get one of the products made just to do that. (Dr Scholl has callous remover. So does another company, although I can't remember which one right now. ) .

These products are sold where the Dr. Scholl stuff/foot stuff is sold in any drug store or place like WalMart. They cost (I think) in the area of five dollars, but they work really well.

The only thing is if, by any chance, you are diabetic you shouldn't use something like this. In fact, I believe diabetics are told they should have all foot care done by a podiatrist.

You can sometime soak your feet and remove a callus but some calluses are not removed so easily.

Removal by surgical means or with keratolytic agents (medicines that break up hardened areas of skin)
Shaving or cutting off the hardened area on the skin

These two things must be done by people who are trained such as a podiatrist.

If you wanna do it cheap, Epsom salt works best ( plus, it's soothing to sore tired feet) dissolved in hot/warm water. You can also go to Bath and Body Works, they have a GREAT foot soak by True Blue Spa. I love it. It's more expensive than plain Epsom Salt. Avon has a soak that is supposed to help get rid of them. It helps to soak them for a while then get a pumice stone or scrub and scrub your feet, they sell TONS of stuff to get rid of callouses! I love soaking my feet, it's very realxing!
